One of the complaints against the PS3 initially was that it was not confident of taste moving Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio. According to that newborn unearthed feature matrix it can today do so. This body in the feature ordered is essential because a difference of receivers will not action place processing on a accepted LPCM communication conventional externally. Crave place this to the effort recently, and without surprise, taste moving without issue.

I feel a little funny writing this article, being the lead 360 writer for Koku Gamer & writing about the PS3 Slim. On the other hand I own a PS3 & love the games that are on the process . Be it known first that they here at Koku Gamer are exactly that; Gamers. Regardless of what console they write for they enjoy all platforms as equally as possible. So here are some of my thoughts on the new PS3 Slim.
As of right now the PS3 Slim is the hottest piece of console hardware out there. This bombshell dropped recently at GamesCon with a reduced price of US$299, bringing it in to the same price range s the Xbox 360 Elite. People who have complained about the price of the PS3 now have no excuse not to purchase seven, unless they dislike the console. Now is the time where they see fanboyism shine through.
Since it’s inception to the general public the PS3 has garnered massive fanboy attention, Sony fanboys claiming it’s the redemption of the Sony brand & Xbox fanboys claiming it will continue to fail. What’s more surprising is the number of web-sites that claim the PS3 Slim won’t save Sony or that it won’t affect the 360.
The other thing to take in to account is the world is bigger than the united states. NPD is with out doubt a great tracker, but it only covers American territories. While the United States is a major part of the market it is only a part, there is still the European & Asian markets . In these territories the PS3 is much closer, & in some cases ahead. there is no doubt the 360 is beating the PS3 in the united states, but a price cut may affect the tide of things. Time will tell whether it will or not.
This $100 price cut & the announcement of the slim is hotter than any game announcement made this year. New Hardware, even if it is just a “fresh coat of paint,” is always big news in the industry. Contrary to what some people may believe this console will sell. Proof of this was when Microsoft cut the price of their 360 skus. Up until the price cut the 360 was marginally a head in sales month to month according to NPD data. When the price cut came it put it far above sales of the PS3. Why wouldn’t the reverse be true? Why wouldn’t a price cut work in favor of the PS3? The signs are looking nice for the holiday Season; a “fresh” new gadget is always hot on anyone’s list, so the PS3 Slim will be in demand. & of coursework it’s a Blu Ray Player, & with the ever increasing popularity of Blu Ray this will increase the popularity of the PS3.
It looks like there might be a trend brewing among products with nondescript September release windows coming out in August instead — first with Apple, & now with Sony. Supply shortages or no, Amazon’s telling those who pre-ordered the PlayStation 3 Slim the first day it was announced should expect to have their consoles in-hand on
Wednesday, August 26th, a whole week before the new month begins. Delivery estimates are subject to change, of work, but Amazon’s not four to typically screw around with shipping confirmations. Any other early adopters received confirmations lately?
We may have all been eagerly awaiting the arrival of the PS3 slim, but don’t get too excited yet.
According to an official press release from Sony, the PS3’s slimmer counterpart is dropping the ability to install Linux or another operating method. It’s always a shame when new products come packed with less features,
but this time, it’s preventing us from doing things like cracking SSL using 200 of the consoles, or jogging emulators from an Ubuntu install on the console. For those of us that still plan on keeping our “old” PS3s, Yellow dog Linux has been released on a USB stick and allows you to run without having to do a full installation.
Sure, it was to be expected. News that the PS3 Slim would not only be smaller (33% according to Sony; it’s slim!), but use less power (34% less), weigh less (36% lighter), & cost less (a solid Benjamin!) all pointed to three thing: black magic.
Turns out, our hunch was wrong (at least in part). IBM has revealed that the Cell processor under the newly matte-ified hood of the PS3 Slim was “manufactured using an advanced 45-nanometer manufacturing process” that will deliver “many performance improvements while drawing less power than earlier chips.” Of work, smaller chips are cheaper to produce & would, at least in part, contribute to the Slim’s slimmer pricetag. There’s no word on any size or cost reductions for the PS3’s Nvidia-built RSX graphics chip; however, historically, it’s lagged behind reductions in the CPU.
In addition to IBM’s claim of “performance improvements” IDG News Service reports that the Slim “adds hardware enhancements that make it speedier” though, curiously, Sony never mentioned any performance improvements coming with the Slim. Since gaming consoles are engineered to a specification – so developers aren’t programming for a moving target – we’re thoroughly skeptical of of any user-facing performance improvements. lucky for us, we’ve got a Slim at our disposal, so we’ll throw some fire at it & see how it responds
Weighing in at over 3.5 kilograms, the PS3 Slim is a sleek, streamlined piece of gaming hardware. How appropriate is it, then, that the first bundle for this new technology features gigantic robot suits, whose pointy appendages and general largeness serve as a thought-provoking foil to Sony’s new console design? not very appropriate, you say? Hmph. What do you know?
Japanese games blog AndriaSang recently uncovered the “Kidou Senshi Gundam Senki Gundam 30th Anniversary Box,” a PS3 Slim bundle which contains Namco’s upcoming mech-fest, Kidou Senshi Gundam Senki, and a few download codes for some additional in-game content, and an HD animated Gundam film. Seems odd the first bundle wouldn’t include a AAA first-party title — but hey, it’s Japan. they love Gundam over they love anything or someone on this planet over there.
Another point of interest: the Slim’s new branding is also carrying over to PS3 game box art.
